BEA Question
Questions about BEA:

For the ticketed authors, the one you have to show up at 6:45 to get a ticket for, is it worth it?

Like, if you go early, are you pretty sure to get a ticket?  Or is it like a concert where people start showing up at four o'clock or something? :)

And once you get the ticket, how long is the line usually to see that author?

Also, as far as the ARCs, do the publishers switch them out so that you have to keep doing laps?

No more wardrobe questions, since it's pretty much too late for that :)  I do still need one more pair of shoes, though..

When I went last year, I didn't get to visit the ticketed authors. The lines were crazy! That said, if you do get a ticket for one of these authors, the lines move relatively fast (for the signing, that is--not sure about the "get your tickets" line).

Yes, make sure you keep rotating your favorite booths. The large publishers will switch out their ARC's, usually halfway through the day. And if you're there for more than one day, there'll likely be new books each day. Also, if you see an ARC displayed that they are NOT giving out but you really want one, ask! I did and got a copy of Marybeth Kelsey's TRACKING DADDY DOWN, even though they weren't actually giving away that ARC.

Hope it helps--have fun!

Thank you!!!

I am debating whether or not it is worth the stress to try and get to see some ticketed authors..

I thought for sure that I was going to go to at least one ticketed event (Catching Fire), but I think I've decided that I'll be so overwhelmed with other BEA stuff that I might not. I don't know. Decisions!

Also, now that BEA is so close, I think I'm getting ready to switch into freak-out mode.

Come to the dark side of freaking out, Jen...

:)

I have no ticket--have to pick up my badge from the office since they're giving me mine for speaking.

I know, 6:45 seems sooo early... But then I'm like, it's BEA, if I'm going to do it, I should do it right! Also, I'm going to the children's author breakfast, which starts at 8 that morning, so it's not THAT much earlier... Hmmm...

I won't be at the Trapeze event, I don't think, but I will be at the teen author carnival, and the Tiger Beat concert at Books of Wonder, so hopefully I will see you SOMEWHERE..

Hey, I'll be in NY for the Backspace Conference later this week. Maybe we'll bump into each other...wouldn't *that* be fun?!?

What are the conference hours?

You should come to some of the "after hours" BEA stuff..

There is the teen author carnival on Thursday from 4-6 at the Jefferson Market Branch of the NYPL, and on Friday at 6, Tiger Beat (the band that is made up of YA authors Libba Bray, Daniel Ehrenhaft, and Natalie Standiford) is going to be performing at Books Of Wonder..

Anyway, I will email you my cell in case you want to come to anything...
